Feldenkrais® is expressed in two forms...
Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) lessons are designed for groups, but individuals may request private ATM lessons. Lessons consist of a progression of verbally guided movement that brings people to engage with curiosity in movement explorations, beckoning thinking, sensing, moving, and imagining.
These curiosity provoking movements gradually evolve into movements of greater range and complexity. Based on developmental movements and functional activities, the lessons bring us to know our self better. In discovery of habitual patterns and new ways of feeling movement, we expand options for our ways of being and moving. Sensitivity and efficiency increase and we develop the space to simply be and respond to the moment we are currently experiencing. |
Functional Integration® (FI) combines gentle touching and verbal instruction to guide movement, The Feldenkrais practitioner communicates to the student efficient and more fulfilling ways of being. Typically during FI, students lie on a table designed specifically for the work. Functional Integration can also be done with the student in sitting or standing. It's tailored to the specific needs of one person.
Functional Integration has benefits similar to ATM. The two forms of the Feldenkrais Method, Awareness Through Movement& Function Integration, are simply two different ways of experiencing this work. Feldenkrais and Musicians
